Casting for Kevin Costner’s Utah film is looking for paid extras

This far out into the desert, casting calls are not as prevalent, but it appears that Kevin Costner is claiming the entire environment as part of his brand with his new feature film series "Horizon: An American Saga," which requires hundreds of extras. Costner is no longer only branding cowboys on TV.

On May 19, the first chapter of the saga will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. On June 28, it will be released in theaters. To finish the second installment, casting coordinators Jessie Vanatta and Maryellen Aviano are looking for people who can start filming as soon as possible. According to Vanatta, the third installment's filming will get underway in August.

Who is eligible to apply?
Vanatta stated that ages 6 and above are preferable, but all ethnicities and ages were urged to apply in the casting call. Additionally, she emphasized that families are "great" and that they should only submit one application if they apply together.

While prior experience with the first episode of "Horizon: An American Saga" and the corresponding roles performed is not necessary, it is necessary to notify the casting department of such prior exposure.

The call said, "This information is crucial in case we have matching scenes in addition to brand-new scenes."

Additionally, a "special abilities" section was considered, where people who have worked with animals or have experience blacksmithing or horseback riding might make a specific designation. The call reminded candidates that their safety should always come first and urged them to be truthful.

The call said, "Most filming days are long and involve being outside from sunrise to sunset, with extremely early reporting times, hot, dusty, and dirty settings, animals working, and locations are typically outside of town so must have reliable transportation."

Restitution
According to Vanatta, overtime begins after 12 hours and general extras are eligible for $150 per hour. Depending on the scenes needed, applicants who are chosen for particular abilities will receive a greater pay rate.

Vanatta stated the work might be done in one day or over several days.
