It’s his maiden Workers Day celebration as Governor of Rivers State

Until he became Governor, Sim Fubara was a senior civil servant…

Just like did during his inauguration, the Governor is using the 2024 Workers Day Celebration to assure workers in the state of his commitment to their well-being.

The governor is also mindful of the growing hardship caused by a number of reforms being implemented by the federal government

He, however, wants Nigerians to continue to show understanding, saying that the reforms will soon yield positive results.

On a more positive note, the last 11 months will rank as one of the best periods for workers in Rivers State who now have reasons to smile again

All thanks to the Sim Fubara led administration that is now giving the much-needed attention to a workforce that has been neglected for so long

Some of the things the government has done include the implementation of promotion and payment of accrued benefits to all categories of civil servants; which were last done over a decade ago

Implementation of promotion of local government workers with effect from April 2024

Recruitment and approval for employment of over 10, 000 youths into the civil service

Recruitment of 1000 doctors and other medical personnel to strengthen the state’s healthcare delivery system. Payment of one hundred thousand naira to each worker for the celebration of Christmas in December 2023 and the renovation and restoration of basic facilities and utilities at the state secretariat. In appreciation for the many things his administration has done for the civil service, the labour family in Rivers State has decided to honour Governor Sim Fubara with an award. Before taking his leave, Governor Sim Fubara also announces a one hundred-million-naira donation to Rivers workers, promising not to neglect their interest and well-being.
