He established the largest Heart Transplantation programme in the UK and developed a world-leading experience at Harefield Hospital in London UK.
He pioneered several novel procedures such as the "Ross Procedure" or pulmonary autograft and contemporary modern arterial switch operation.
His charity, the Chain of Hope, has had a profound global impact providing cardiothoracic surgical care to the developing world.
