The Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series has been updated for 2024 and beyond. But is it the right ute for you?

In this LC79 dual-cab-chassis review, I'll tell you why the existing, in-demand 4.5-litre turbo-diesel V8 engine with the five-speed manual feels so ridiculously outdated and overrated compared to this new 4-cyl and auto combo from the HiLux, Fortuner, Prado and others.

You'll find out the payload capacity, towing capacity, gross vehicle mass (GVM) and gross combination mass (GCM), and I'll detail the changes made to the safety technology for the single-cab, dual-cab, Troopy (Troop Carrier) and wagon models. It no longer has an ANCAP rating...!

But as good as all those improvements are, there are still some things that could rule out the LC79 - or any 2024 Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series - for you. You'll have to watch to find out what they are!
