Two simple ways to fix large holes in drywall, plasterboard, sheet rock, gypsum board etc. using minimal tools, materials (and even skill)!

Today we’re demonstrating (clearly) two of our favourite methods to fix big holes in walls. The first method involves utilizing store-bought drywall repair clips (which you can get at any big box store) as backing to secure the new piece of drywall, but know that you can use any material strong enough to hold a screw (ie. any scrap wood etc.). The second method goes by many names: butterfly patch, California patch, hot patch etc. but no matter what you call it, the concept is the same. The entire patch is made by utilizing the paper face of a scrap piece of drywall as a securing mechanism/tape to both bond and secure the new patch. It’s very effective in that when it’s done properly, the entire wall is drywall again, with no additional structural pieces needed.
