At just 5 years old, Samuel Palacios is a marimba virtuoso. Due to his young age, he does not reach the height of the indigenous piano, the marimba, but this is not an obstacle to interpreting La Mora Limpia, accompanied by the Living Legend of the indigenous neighborhood of "Monimbo" Masaya-Nicaragua La Marimba Orquesta Hermanos Palacios.

From very early on, his grandfather Manuel Palacios Ruiz has been doing what the Palacios family has had in their blood for generations, making and playing our indigenous piano, the marimba with a peyne de mico bow cut on the slopes of our lagoons, with maso de capote bobbins. and honey potato stick.

"Samuelito", as his parents Tania and Luis Blass Palacios call him, his teachers at the "Rondas de Travesuras" Child Development Center in Masaya, invited him to learn to dance, but he replied "I don't dance, I just play. the marimba".

At that time "Samuelito" did not know how to play the instrument and when he got home he urgently asked his father and grandfather to teach him because he wanted to play for his teachers. The first piece of music he learned was the Mora Limpia and, according to Luis, he learned it in just an hour and a half.

“Samuelito” has the marimba in his blood because the Palacio family has been carrying on the tradition for 130 years. His grandfather, Don Manuel Palacios, is the one who is advising him and teaching him to play the marimba.

We conclude by saying that Samuel has carried the art and passion for the marimba and national music since he was a child, making him a Nicaraguan pride. Marimba Orquesta Hermanos Palacios is located ½ block down from El Calvarito de Monimbó.
