If you think about learning how to read music fluently like learning how to read the English language fluently…there are patterns to memorize and steps to follow in order to get to the point that you can ACTUALLY read fluently.

And one of those important patterns and steps to master is CHORDS.

Chords are kind of like common sight words. They are ALL OVER THE PLACE.

And instead of trying to sound out every sight word every time you see it, at a certain point, you have to start recognizing them faster if you want to be able to read fluently and with any sort of speed.

When you can look at, recognize, and play chords quickly, you become more fluent and way faster at not only reading music, but playing with more accuracy and flow.
