5:25 AM I arrive to a thick blanket of fog. As I was setting up, I heard both eaglets screeching very loudly.
6:30 AM Mother doe and her two fawn frolicking in the field. Fog is still so thick I can barely make out the habitat trees.
The eaglets periodically peep.
7:12 AM Both eaglets are screeching as if a parent just delivered food and they are trying to get to the nest.
7:17 AM. The eaglets have not stopped screeching.
7:30 AM I think I see an adult on the family tree.
I do see a large bird on the babysitting branch. I can’t tell if it’s a fledgling or adult due to the fog.
It looks like the adult is drying out so likely a fish was delivered. I am guessing this is dad as this is his favorite perch in the family tree.
8:20 AM Dad departs for the lake. We still haven’t found the other eaglet due to the fog.
8:30 AM We found the other eaglet directly below the one on the babysitting branches flapping its wings.
8:35 AM I can see clearly now the fog is gone. It’s still cloudy but yay.
8:55 AM Hannah delivers a fish. She is eating and the chicks are peeping away in frustration.
9:17 AM Spring finally gets the courage to fly to the nest from the babysitting branch to eat.
9:33 AM Hannah to the attic.
10:04 AM Hannah departs flying to the Lakeside tree.
10:50 AM Mr. Majestic arrives landing on the Lakeside tree.
The whole family is home.
11:18 MrM departs for the lake.
11:32 AM Spring from nest to the side porch. Storm is still stranded in the same spot all morning.
12:03 AM Short flight to the AET from the side porch; Spring.
12:43 Stranded eaglet, Storm, goes up a little higher.
1244 And even higher in the AET
12:50 Spring flies from AET to nest tree.
A minute later, Storm flies over further up on AET.
12:55 Storm finally took a magnificent flight, landing in the balcony. Both are now in the nest tree close to home sweet home.
1 PM Storm from balcony and into the nest. Hopefully there are some nest overs in there. Yep, eaglet is eating.
Meanwhile, Hannah has been perched on the lakeside tree watching her offspring progress into freedom.
1:30 I leave with both Eaglets back in the nest together. Thanks Jeanne for the champagne (and lunch) to toast the eaglets fledge, a yearly tradition.
Hannah is still here on the Lakeside tree and dad out.
All is super good in the wood! ~ Judy
Update from Scott
Report from Scott-. One of the kids went from the nest to the high point of the live tree (AET) about 1:50.
Adult came in at 2:00 with some food; didn’t see what.
I went home at 2:30 returning at 4:45.
One kid was lower same tree, the other kid was still in the nest. Looked back and the other one was gone. Looked back and it was back in the nest.
Food delivered at 5:34.
