In 2015, Creed did the impossible. It was the seventh entry in a nearly 40 year old franchise which rivaled the original. It introduced new characters at the center of the story but still gave the legacy character of Rocky an arc of his own. One that paralleled and connected with Donnie’s and Bianca’s.

Since then, Creed has spawned its own franchise with each movie retaining that same spirit, while using Adonis’ journey to explore new themes as well. Creed II dealt with legacy, redemption, and family. And now Creed III, with Adonis a few years into a successful boxing career, deals with questions like: what do you do after you’ve accomplished your dream? And what happens when you start to doubt if you’ve really earned what you have?
