Pear-shaped body with a beautiful long neck, Bouzouki is the most cherished musical instrument in Greece and has quite a fanbase in Irish music scenes as well. The instrument with sharp metallic sound is deeply rooted in the country’s culture, heritage, and artistry. It may not be as popular globally compared to a guitar, it may not have a wide adaptability across music genres, but it does have a dedicated following among enthusiasts. And the authentic makers of the instrument are even rarer, and slowly fading into extinction.

We visited Christos Spoudralakis in Athens, Greece, who has been working on making instruments for 45 years. For Christos, the craft is more like a high school love.
