When Disney decided to remake another one of their timeless classics, Peter Pan, I decided to watch the original Peter Pan for the first time in my life. I fell in love with Wendy Darling's character! She's graceful, kind, feminine, and most importantly, a traditional woman. Traditional or TRAD female characters are a rarity to see in the present day, and their representation is nearly lost. After viewing Disney's remake, named Peter Pan & Wendy, I realized that Disney is trying to erase this representation in the name of modernism, feminism, and "progressive" ideals. Wendy went from an inspirational and feminine icon to a mere shell copycat of Peter Pan himself. Join me as I break down exactly how Disney Sabotaged Wendy Darling's value for their remake, and how Traditional women are ultimately being erased from media.
