Vadde Sahibzaade Shahidi Diwas, also known as the Martyrdom Day of the Elder Sahibzaade, is a solemn occasion observed to commemorate the sacrifice and martyrdom of the four eldest sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. This significant day is observed on December 22nd every year and holds great historical and spiritual importance in Sikhism.

The Sahibzaade, namely Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh, were born into the illustrious family of Guru Gobind Singh, who played a vital role in shaping the Sikh faith and defending the principles of righteousness, equality, and justice. The Sahibzaade, despite their tender age, displayed immense courage, resilience, and unwavering devotion to their faith.

The martyrdom of the Sahibzaade took place during the tumultuous times of the Mughal rule in India. In 1704, Guru Gobind Singh and his forces faced a severe siege in the fortress of Anandpur Sahib. Due to the prolonged siege and relentless attacks, the Guru and his followers suffered from acute scarcity of food and resources. Eventually, the Guru made the heart-wrenching decision to evacuate the fortress, and during the arduous journey, the Sahibzaade and their grandmother, Mata Gujri, were separated from the Guru.

Vadde Sahibzaade Shahidi Diwas is a deeply significant day that not only honors the memory of the Sahibzaade but also serves as a source of inspiration for generations to come, reminding them of the indomitable spirit and unwavering faith that can shape history and transform lives.
