In case of arthritis and osteoarthritis, it is important to follow a diet that helps reduce inflammation and maintain a healthy weight, since excess weight can increase pressure on the affected joints. Foods to avoid include:

Processed and high-sugar foods: These can increase inflammation levels in the body. Examples include sugary drinks, candy, and processed foods such as some breakfast cereals and packaged snacks.

Saturated and trans fats: Present in red meat, butter, cheese, and fried or processed foods. These fats can promote inflammation.

Salt and foods high in sodium: Excess sodium can increase water retention, which can increase pressure on your joints.

Alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption can increase inflammation and have negative effects on joint health.

Foods high in purines: These can increase uric acid in the body and worsen symptoms in people with gout, a form of arthritis. Foods high in purines include red meat, organ meats, and some fish and shellfish.
