Susanna de Chenonceau, M.Ed, gives action items for Juniors in January 2021:
-Mental health comes first - set a schedule for yourself, including getting dressed, eating three meals a day, and moving your body.
-Create your own workspace for attending school (not your bed!) and turn your cameras on to feel more connected to your teacher and your class.
-When picking classes for next year, play to your strengths and protect your GPA - prioritize getting your highest grades in 9th and 10th grade over taking honors/AP classes. Your classes should build in rigor each year of high school.
-Start thinking about and applying to summer programs. Many programs will likely be online this year. Check out our summer program directory here: https://collegemapper.com/summer-prog...
-Start compassionate volunteering starting early in high school so you can stay involved with issues you care about. Find ideas for volunteering during quarantine here: https://collegemapper.com/2020/09/88-...
