"Lightning never strikes the same place twice" is a common reassuring phrase. But the chances of lightning striking the same place or person twice are actually very likely. Whether years apart or not. And in the case of our guest, today life has hit him a couple of times harder than most.

Dannion Brinkley's near-death experience of being struck by lightning for the first time at just 25 years old, which subjected him to excruciating pain and endless operations that affected his brain, heart, nerve endings and tissues, still allows him today support others and share his journey at 71 years old.

This terrible experience transformed his life. Dannion has been volunteering in hospices across the country for more than 40 years.

In 1994, Dannion co-wrote and published his autobiographical book, which broke the New York Times bestseller record for 25 weeks, Saved by the Light: The True Story of a Man Who Died Twice and His Profound Revelations.

In it he describes his alleged near-death experience and the aftermath of having been clinically dead for approximately twenty-eight minutes. In the end he told the story of a dark tunnel, a glass city, and a "cathedral of knowledge" where thirteen "angels" shared with him more than a hundred revelations about the future, some of which he claims have come true.

In our interview, Dannion talks about the involuntary out of body he had just put himself through and seeing his loved ones on 180,000 volts of electricity while he watched as his loved ones and his paramedics tried to save him
