This video introduces you to Mr. Koshi Mizukami (aka "Kenshi Okada," his stage name until August 2022), one of Japan's hopeful upcoming actors. Koshi was born in Fukuoka, Kyushu to Japanese parents. His dream was to become a professional baseball player like Shohei Ohtani or Yu Darvish.
This was his dream since five (5) years old. He wanted to become a pitcher but instead, he was placed as a catcher. His childhood dream has not changed until high school. He went on to Soseikan High School, a local high school that is known for one of the best baseball teams in Japan.
In the winter of his first year at junior high school, Koshi was scouted by the entertainment agency for the first time. He told his parents about it and including Koshi, they all sort that it was a bad joke. After that incident, however, Koshi kept receiving the invitation to attend fashion model contests which he kept refusing because he was immersed in baseball.
In 2017, Koshi had to stop playing baseball due to an injury; this happened during his third year at high school. That was when he was scouted by a drama teacher at his high school. He participated in the drama by playing a Special Mission Pilot during WW II. This play won the highest award at the Kyushu Block Contest of the National High School Theater Competition. Koshi was planning to go on to college and try to go back to playing baseball again, but after over a year of break, he felt insecure about his ability to play.
Koshi decided to take the opportunity to audition for acting in 2018. To his surprise, he was selected to play a part in the TV drama, "Junior High School Diary" (TBS), which started broadcasting in Oct of the same year; this became his debut as an actor. With this role, he was awarded Best Supporting Actor which led to making his 1st photo book released on 12 June 2019.
In July 2019, Fukuoka Broadcasting's 50th Anniversary Special Drama starred in a TV drama for the first time. In 2020, four movies are scheduled to be released, including Koushi's screen debut "Yayoi, For 30 Years, I Loved You." Appeared in his second commercial drama "MIU404" for the first time in 1 year and 6 months since his debut. Koshi appeared in the 2021 NHK Taiga drama "Seiten wo Tsuke." On 19 March 2021, he received the 44th Japan Academy Award - New Actor Award for these three works: "Yayoi, For 30 Years I Loved You," "Doctor Death's Heritage -BLACK FILE", and "Hope."
On 31 Aug 2022, Koshi announced that he would drop his stage name, "Kenshi Okada" and use his own name, "Koshi Mizukami." In Sept 2022, he signed a business partnership with HAKU LLC.
