This night, June 14-15, 2021, there was another attack by a barn owl among the Kestrel of Théding, but this one went wrong. Despite their young age, 2 chicks fled (following the 2 young ones that fled last night). The last one, too young, was killed during the attack.
At morning, the kestrels tried to regain control of their nest box, in vain, the pair is present and seems to want to install its second brood there.
The four chicks have successfully sought refuge in the garden trees, and the parents persist in providing them with nourishment.
In due course, the barn owls retourn to their territory. Following the fledging of the first brood, they went on to produce a second set of offspring.
