Djibouti: British MP Says He Was Deported for Criticising China | Firstpost America

British MP Tim Loughton has claimed that he was deported from Djibouti due to the East African country's close relations with China. He added that he had criticised Beijing's alleged human rights abuses on Uyghurs, Tibetans and Hog Kongers in the past, which led Djibouti to take such a step. However, China has refuted his allegations, calling them "purely baseless". In 2021, Beijing put sanctions on seven British parliamentarians, including Loughton, for allegedly spreading "lies and disinformation". According to reports, Djibouti has received billions of dollars in investment from Beijing. China also reportedly holds more than $1.4 billion of the nation's debt, which is 45 percent of its GDP.
