In the late 1980s, the descendants of the Hyeonpung Kwak family clan decided to relocate some of the graves in their family cemetery in the mountains of Dalseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. One of them belonged to a woman who lived in the Joseon Dynasty some 400 years ago.
Although it had initially been estimated that the relocation work would take just a day, it proceeded over the course of ten days. It took considerable time and effort to remove the pine resin that kept the coffin firmly sealed, and as soon as it was finally opened, the fume that burst out of the coffin caused an elderly man by the name of Kwak Byeong-do to faint.
After shedding much toil, they found astonishing things inside the coffin, including well-preserved clothing and more than a hundred letters. So began the journey back in time with the letters from 400 years ago.
