"In the Cave of the Mountain King" - a composition from the suite by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg to the play "Peer Gynt" by Henrik Ibsen. The premiere took place on 24 February 1896 in Oslo. The composition is the most famous and recognizable work of Grieg and one of the most popular classical tunes. It is quite popular these days.

In the play, this composition sounds at the entry of the mountain king and his trolls into his throne cave. Thanks to this, as well as its sound, "In the Cave of the Mountain King" is associated with trolls, as well as with mysticism and a mysterious atmosphere in general.
