भूतू प्यारे छोटे भूत पर आधारित कहानी है। यह शो भूतू/पीहू के इर्द-गिर्द घूमता है, जो एक 7 साल का दोस्ताना भूत है। वह दोस्तों के साथ खेलना पसंद करती है और वह अपनी मां के बहुत करीब है। लेकिन वह बहुत दुखी और निराश है कि उसे कोई नहीं देख सकता। इस बीच, गोपाल (कृष्णा) एक साथी के रूप में उसके साथ आता है और वह वादा करता है कि वह उसे उसकी माँ से मिलवाएगा।

कहानी की शुरुआत भूतू/पीहू के एक खाली घर में जागने से होती है। वह दिन भर अपने दोस्तों से बात करने की कोशिश करती रहती है लेकिन असफल रहती है। वह अपनी मां आनंदिता की वापसी की प्रतीक्षा करती है लेकिन जब वह कुछ पड़ोसियों को अपने घर में रहने वाले भूत के बारे में बात करती सुनती है तो वह भयभीत हो जाती है। जब पड़ोसी हवन करके घर को शुद्ध करने की कोशिश करते हैं, तो वह बेहोश हो जाती है और बाल गोपाल (भगवान कृष्ण) प्रकट होते हैं।

Bhutu is the story based on cute little ghost. The show revolves around Bhutu/Pihu, a 7-year old friendly ghost. She loves to play with friends and she is very close to her mother. But she is very sad and disheartened that no one can see her. Meanwhile, Gopal (Krishna) comes to be with her as a companion and he promises that he will make her to meet her mother.

The story starts with Bhutu/Pihu waking up to an empty house. Throughout the day she keeps trying to talk with her friends but fails. She waits for her mother Anandita's return but becomes horrified when she hears some neighbors talking about a ghost residing in her house. When neighbors try to purify the house by performing Havan, she faints and Bal Gopal (Lord Krishna) appears.
