Short story: ALCO had one job for Union Pacific and failed miserably.

ALCO used to be a great locomotive builder in the steam age but was not so great at building diesels (better than Baldwin and Lima at least) and today I'm going to be analyzing and roasting the company's biggest flop. Sure, it was huge and powerful like other steam giants ALCO built for UP, but unlike said steam giants was a total failure and destroyed the company's once great relationship it had with Union Pacific in steam age.
