1. Stella Assange, wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, arriving to speak to reporters
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Stella Assange, wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange:
"Today's decision is astounding. The courts recognise that Julian is exposed to a flagrant denial of his freedom of expression rights, that he is being discriminated against on the basis of his nationality, an Australian, and that he remains exposed to the death penalty. And yet, what the courts have done have been to invite a political intervention from the United States to send a letter saying it's all okay. I find this astounding."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Stella Assange, wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange:
"Julian is a political prisoner. He is a journalist, and he is being persecuted because he exposed the true cost of war in human lives. This case is a retribution. It is a signal to all of you, that if you expose the interests that are driving war, they will come after you, they will put you in prison and they will try to kill you."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Stella Assange, wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange:
"Now, the UK courts have invited the United States to issue assurances. The Biden administration should not issue assurances. They should drop their shameful case that should never have been brought. Julian should never have been in prison for a single day. This is a shame on every democracy."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Stella Assange, wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange:
"Free Julian. I ask everyone to rally behind him and call for his freedom. Call for the Biden administration to drop the case and support House resolution 934 before the US Congress to drop this case. Thank you."

STORYLINE:
The wife of Julian Assange on Tuesday called for him to be freed after a decision from London's High Court to delay the extradition of the WikiLeaks founder to the US on espionage charges.

Two High Court judges said on Tuesday that they would grant Assange a new appeal unless US authorities give further assurances about what will happen to him.

Stella Assange said she found the decision "astounding" and urged the administration of US President Joe Biden to "drop the case".

"Julian should never have been in prison for a single day", she told reporters outside the London court.

The ruling means the legal saga, which has dragged on for more than a decade, will continue.

Judges Victoria Sharp and Jeremy Johnson said that if no assurances are filed by the US, they will grant Assange permission to appeal extradition on grounds including breach of freedom of expression, and because he might receive the death penalty.

The case has been adjourned until May 20.
