Milk is a good source of protein. However, i’m seeing a lot of patients not able to tolerate milk these days when they go beyond 30 years of age. This is related to the enzyme lactase deficiency. These patients could enjoy milk by using lactase tablets before taking daily products.
Milk contains tryptophan which releases serotonin which will promote melatonin for good sleep. However, timing is crucial. The most important concept is that drinking milk at night just before going to bed will trigger insulin release because of the carbohydrates present in the milk which will disturb the circadian rhythm. If you want to drink milk, please drink 2 to 3 hours before going to bed and not just before.
