Yolanda Bruno, the TSO’s newly appointed Associate Concertmaster, joined the orchestra in 2019 as one of the most celebrated young musicians in Canada. Growing up in Ottawa in a musical family, Yolanda went off to study music in McGill and the Guildhall School in London, after which she returned to Canada and launched a whirlwind professional career full of musical adventures. That adventure continues in her new role, announced at the start of the 23/24 season, bringing to it her devotion to beauty and the compelling power of music.

What does an Associate Concertmaster do? What were her first thoughts upon hearing the announcement of her new role? What does it mean to be achieving this position at the TSO? These are the burning questions she answers during our Symphony City spotlight interview, along with a closer look at the history and craftsmanship behind her cherished violin.
