My wife’s desk setup is now complete. It took a long time to get it to this point so let’s talk about it.

Our biggest goal for this space was to make sure that a desk setup fit in this room, and provides my wife all the tools she needs to do her business, but is still a nice place for guests to stay in. My wife’s color preferences for this room are obviously white, pink, and natural wood tones. So, we focused on trying to incorporate pink where we could and when we couldn’t, we tried to use white or natural wood, all the way down to the cables too.

So let’s talk desks. This is the Flexispot E7 standing desk with rubberwood top. This standing desk has nice programmable buttons, and a usb port right there for charging. On top we’re using the grovemade large desk shelf in solid maple. Grovemade makes really cool desk accessories with wood and they all give off this nice, minimal but premium aesthetic. This desk shelf is solid wood and looks great. I will say though they are pricey, you get what you pay for, and we’ve tried other similar products but those didn’t feel or look as good. So I end up using their stuff a lot. On top is the M1 iMac as her main computer. There’s less cables to worry about cable managing, since most of the components are baked right into the computer. The keyboard is custom. It’s a Zoom65 with lubed oil king switches, and the Sakura keycaps from Osume. It was hard finding the perfect keyboard that met the looks, features, and feel she wanted. And so we had to go custom. The mice and keyboard are resting on an orbitkey slim desk mat in stone. This desk mat is favorite desk mat because it’s multi functional, with a little raised area for you to keep writing utensils, a magnetic cable holder so that your cable doesn’t sneak away and fall to the ground, a hidden felt compartment to keep papers, and the surface is water resistant, so you can use it as an emergency coaster from time to time. Then the biggest unexpected thing we added to this was this stream deck +. Stream decks are normally thought of as like a gamer’s device, it has a bunch of buttons that can be programmed to do different things to assist them in live streaming, but the truth is, the stream deck is a lot more than that. You can use these things to control music, open apps, open specific website links, track system performance, control your video chat settings and even control your smart home. I have the stream deck here configured for all the common but tedious tasks my wife does, and to control the smart home functions of this room. I spend a significant amount of time trying to smart-home-ify this place, so you know I’m gonna make her use it. The stream deck is also customizable aesthetically too. By default the Stream Deck + comes with black dials, but they sell different colored ones if you’re not into black. Luckily, they sell pink ones. And if you don’t like the default icons, colors, or screensavers, you can swap them out for your own creations, or ones created by the community to fit exactly the vibe you’re going for.

We ended up going with an IKEA pegboard for additional storage and can look good if filled out right. So we got some white or pink accessories and displayed them on this pegboard. Lastly, the chair is the HATTEFJÄLL from IKEA.
