With winter in the rear-view mirror, many people are looking forward to summer, but some are preparing for wildfire season.

May is wildfire preparedness month, and we caught up with the wildland fire program coordinator from the Missoula Rural Fire District Taylor Blakely to learn ways to protect your home from wildfire.

Blakely says that the first Saturday in May is Wildfire Preparedness Day, and it makes for a great weekend to ensure that your home is ready for possible wildfires.

This includes doing things such as cleaning debris out of your gutter, removing fallen leaves and dry vegetation from your yard, and storing propane tanks at least 30 feet from structures.
