Tom Skinner performs live at Le Guess Who? 2023 as part of the program curated by Stereolab, following the release of 'Voices of Bishara'. Here, the group also pay homage to American cellist Abdul Wadud with interpretations of two tracks: 'Oasis' and 'Happiness'.

Setlist:
00:16 Oasis (Abdul Wadud)
18:40 Day After Tomorrow
25:20 Happiness (Abdul Wadud)

About:
Tom Skinner has been a staple of the burgeoning underground music scene for the better part of the past twenty years, having performed alongside musicians such as fellow Le Guess Who? performer Jonny Greenwood (on The Smile), and with acclaimed jazz group Sons of Kemet, of which he is a founding member. But it was only last year that Skinner released a record under his own name, the dazzling 'Voices of Bishara'. The album title was inspired by the American cellist Abdul Wadud's solo album 'By Myself', released on his own Bisharra label in 1978, which, fittingly, Skinner listened to repeatedly during the pandemic. Skinner’s work is a piece of make-shift beauty, necessary to a grim world.

Captured at TivoliVredenburg's Pandora on Friday, 10 November during Le Guess Who? 2023.
