"I'll Be Mellow When I'm Dead" is an non-parody punk rock song written by Al in early 1981. There's a home demo that was recorded by Al on March 26, 1981, but that version has yet to surface. This particular version was recorded on July 18, 1981 at Westwood One and features Richard "Bopcat" Bennett on Bass, Guitar, and Ukelele, as well as Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz on drums. It was first played on the Dr. Demento show on July 26, 1981, and was rereleased on Dr. Demento's Basement Tapes #3 in 1994.
