In the 60s and 70s, single-headed toms reigned supreme. With their short attack and melodic sound, drummers loved playing massive kits and performing all kinds of fills and grooves. However, in the 80s, they quickly fell out of favor and were replaced by their predecessor, the double-headed tom. Although we have mostly stuck with double-headed toms, many modern drummers are now reintroducing concert toms into their setups. Today, we will compare the two and determine which tom sound we believe is the best!
