STORYLINE:
Aid air drops continued over the Gaza Strip on Sunday as Egypt intensified efforts to broker a deal to end the months-long war and stave off a planned Israeli ground offensive into the southern city of Rafah.

The military aerial aid operation has been conducted by multiple countries including the U.S. and Jordan, where flights have been taking off from.

Israel faces widespread international criticism over the slow trickle of aid into the Palestinian territory, where the United Nations says at least a quarter of the population sits on the brink of starvation.

Meanwhile, Hamas said on Saturday it was reviewing a new Israeli proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza.

Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya gave no details of Israel's offer, but said it was in response to a Hamas proposal two weeks ago.
