Somewhere between a computer program, a troubadour romance, the Pietà and a Roman mystery cult – a boy and girl meet. In this scene from a cracked-out Renaissance painting, the “I” and the “O” come together for a simple and real connection. ‘Step Well Pilgrim’ is at once the portrait of a relationship between two unlikely mates, as well as the distant echo of the binary code (zeros and ones) at the root of our supercharged world of computer-dating and social media.
