The British High Court in London is set to rule on whether WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange can mount a final appeal to challenge his extradition from the United Kingdom to the United States.
Prosecutors in the US are seeking to put Assange, 52, on trial on charges of espionage relating to WikiLeaks’s release of classified documents relating to the US-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
If the British judges rule against Assange, an Australian citizen, he can ask the European Court of Human Rights to block his extradition, but supporters worry he could be sent to the US before that happens.
