Let's see who remember "Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins" and its Athletic / Main Theme ! The game was released in 1992 on Game Boy, three years after Super Mario Land (1989). SML2 did its best to be the equivalent of Super Mario World for Game Boy. The game is still in black and white, but compared to the first SML, the sprites and backgrounds are much better, the gameplay offers more variety, and there are many more levels.

It also have a great soundtrack, composed by Kazumi Totaka, who worked on the music of many other Nintendo games (Zelda: Link's Awakening, Wave Race 64, Yoshi's Story, Animal Crossing, Wii Sports...).

I decided to arrange the Main Theme, "Athletic", because it is a really funny and upbeat theme. I couldn't find any classical guitar arrangement for this one on YouTube, so here it is! The original theme is impossible to play on one guitar, so I changed the bass line and harmony so that it works. Well, it still took me some practice because it goes fast... no wonder the theme is called "Athletic"!
