"Popcorn Sutton" (Copyright 2014 by Dan Lewis - Daniel Lewis Music BMI) is an original Americana song by songwriter Dan Lewis of Asheville, North Carolina. From his early childhood, traditional old time mountain music and bluegrass has been a central music influence on Dan Lewis for some 40 years, and the region is rich with moonshiners and their stories. Popcorn Sutton was from Maggie Valley, maybe 25 miles west of Asheville, so it was natural for Dan to know the story and retell it in a song, using an old traditional flavor and a melody similar to an old mountain ballad. Lewis has created songs and music, and performed in the western North Carolina region for over 40 years, with 12 albums of original songs and instrumental music.
