In this video I take a look at Amnesia: The Dark Descent's lore and critically analyze it in a historical perspective, seeing whether the characters, environments, and events match up with their real-life counterparts.

Amnesia is my favorite game of all time and I'd say it is the inspiration of a lot of the things I currently study. It has a huge part in my life and I haven't found myself to be bored of it at all. The story is one of the main reasons I continue to play it, so analyzing it and making this video essay about it is a great way to showcase that.

Hopefully this made you see the story differently and might want to make you play/replay it. There's tons to experience when you're paying attention to the lore (as it tells you to do anyway when you first boot up the game) so just don't be shy to read the notes and diaries. Too many people do that and miss out on the entire point of Amnesia.

This is my first video on this channel and my first video of this style so there's still tons for me to learn. There are multiple audio cuts that feel out of place, half the video has way too low of an FOV, and the sound mastering is overdone.

I'll learn through time, but what would help a bunch is if you leave constructive comments and suggestions down below. I'll pin whatever fixes statements I made in the video and I'll reply to anything I think needs a reply.
