Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Sonata No. 18 in D Major, K. 533/494
Piano: Walter Gieseking(Recording Year: 1953)
I. Allegro 0:00
II. Andante 5:15
III. Allegretto 13:08

This work consists of two fragmentary piano sonatas written by Mozart in 1786, which were later compiled into a single piece by publisher André. The fragments were originally conceived as independent works.

I. Allegro 0:00
The first movement in classical sonata form, with a stately slow introduction followed by a cheerful, dignified main theme. Mozart's delicate contrapuntal writing shines through.

II. Andante 5;15
The second movement is a serene, lyrical piece in three-part form. It features a beautiful, songful melody underpinned by rich harmonies in the inner voices.

III. Allegretto 13:08
The finale is a lively rondo. Mozart's playfulness manifests throughout, with a wonderful fusion of sprightly rhythms and contrapuntal textures.

Conclusion
A quintessential work from Mozart's mature period, combining classical frameworks with his wit and elegance. Gieseking's performance deftly highlights the music's charms through insightful interpretation and superb technique.
