Ye Fu: Chinese independent writer, real name Zheng Shiping, belongs to the Tujia ethnic group. Born in 1962 in Lichuan County, Enshi, Hubei, he has published over a million words across genres including poetry, essays, reportage literature, novels, scholarly papers, and scripts. He received the 2009 Award for Contribution to Contemporary Chinese Language and the 2010 Taipei International Book Fair Non-Fiction Prize. In the summer of 2023, the Dasong team traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to interview writer Ye Fu. The topics covered span various aspects of the Chinese-speaking world, from writing, the ideological homelands and exile of the Chinese people, the historical memories of their parents, family oral histories, to the restrictions on speech and writing in China.
