Subnautica spans many genres, one of which according to most critics is horror. But like many of the best Sci-Fi adventures, this sweeping statement hides its true nature which is far more intimidating, and far more exciting.

Despite the temptation, I strongly advise against using any map mod on your first run as it impacts your natural discovery of the world in a negative way. Beyond that, never install a mod you don’t need — too many cooks spoil the broth!
