When David Arquette won the WCW Heavyweight Championship the company (and Arquette) came under heavy criticism. WCW was already trending downwards in terms of viewership and overall popularity, yet Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff felt that David Arquette winning WCW's main championship belt would be a great marketing tool. David's win did receive coverage in USA Today and other mainstream media outlets, but those few weeks where David appeared in WCW would live on forever as another catastrophic mistake made by World Championship Wrestling.

This video looks at how David Arquette began appearing on WCW television (through the Ready to Rumble movie), his championship win on WCW Thunder, his main event PPV match at Slamboree 2000, and his documentary that showed a different side to Arquette as he tried to redeem himself.
