3-19-24: Name announcement: Owlet #1 - Annie Oakley; Owlet #2 - Wyatt Earp

Video opens with Annie and Wyatt on the nest. The owlets hear something, and their behavior changes as they listen. A raccoon is climbing the nest tree. As the raccoon's head reaches the top of the nest rails, the owlets go into defensive posture and bill clack at the raccoon. The raccoon turns and descends the tree, probably still close by, watching the behavior of Annie and Wyatt. A short overhead view is shown. The raccoon is an intruder/predator.

Next, Annie and Wyatt react to Clyde arriving close by, out of view, hooting; Bonnie is not heard hooting. There are a couple of squawks, possibly Bonnie, heard close by. The owlets watch the upper branches above, and their behavior indicates an adult is perched there. Bonnie was last in cam view 07:05:50, per moderator Kathy, and last heard about 1810 on 4-19-24. Clyde made one overnight delivery to the nest, bird prey, shortly before 1AM on 4-20-24. Bonnie stays less in the nest this time of season; however, is seen delivering, feeding, perching in the nest tree, and checking on the owlets. Video closes with a close-up view of the owlets. 00:00. Opening. Annie/right and Wyatt in the nest.
00:12. Annie and Wyatt react to what they hear, by watching instead of resting.
01:50. Raccoon climbs up the branch under the nest (under caption).
02:01. Raccoon descends (under caption).
02:26. Raccoon climbs up the trunk (left of the caption).
02:42. Raccoon peeks over the rails; the owlets go into defensive posture + bill clacking. Annie/right.
02:52. Raccoon's eyes can still be seen under the right sticks hanging over the right side of the nest.
03:09. Raccoon moves down/toward the left side of the nest, then goes down the trunk.
03:46. The owlets react again to what they see/hear (I cannot see the raccoon, but can possibly be heard breathing 04:08).
04:28. The owlets are watchful, no longer in defensive posture.
05:00. Overhead view, starts when the owlets hear the intruder and start watching. Wyatt/right.
07:18. Clyde is heard hooting nearby; the owlets react. Wyatt/right, to start. I do not hear Bonnie hooting in response.
14:35. Squawk heard, closer than the hoots just prior, again @14:54. Both adults squawk, most often we hear Bonnie squawk.
14:45. The owlets watch above and head bob.

History: Great Horned Owls Bonnie & Clyde took over the Bald Eagle nest of Willie and Marie on 2-1-2021. (Last season's history only included on this video description.)

2023 Season - Bonnie and Clyde visited the nest/nest tree 50+ times in cam view during January 2023.
1-31-23. Bonnie lays her first egg of the 2023 season.
2-3-23. Bonnie lays her second egg of the 2023 season.
3-6-23. Egg #1 has hatched; first observation/first feeding for Butch Cassidy, on Day 34.
3-8-23. Egg #2 has hatched; first observation of Sundance Kid, on Day 33.
3-16-23. Butch Cassidy swallows whole prey (mouse) for the first time.
4-16-23. Butch Cassidy branches at 41 days old.
4-17-23. Sundance Kid branches at 40 days old.
4-30-23. Butch Cassidy has fledged, 55 days old. (We cannot confirm with the cam view that this is the actual fledge date; it is the first time we knew BC had fledged. Fledge date for Sundance Kid is unknown.
8-5-23. Strong thunderstorm hits the farm, bringing winds of 70-80 MPH.

2024 Season -
2-6-24 20:40. Bonnie lays egg #1.
2-10-24 03:52. Bonnie lays egg #2.
3-11-24 06:40. Owlet #1 has hatched (pip on day 32, first seen on day 34).
3-13-24 07:06. Owlet #2 has hatched (pip not seen, hatched on day 32).
3-19-24 Owlets received names: Owlet #1 Annie Oakley, Owlet #2 Wyatt Earp
3-21-24 Annie swallows her first rodent.
