Nioh

Nioh is a fun game that you can purchase and play today. All joking aside, I never gave Nioh a fair shake. About 6 years ago I failed to even complete the thing before firing off a "review," so today, I'm rectifying my mistakes by taking a serious critical look at the games after finishing the main campaigns and the DLC. Everyone knows Nioh 2 owns, but we cover that too. Consider this a spiritual follow-up to the Dark Souls videos. Maybe if it gets enough interest we'll dig into Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long, etc.

Quick overhead: the Nioh games are mechanically beautiful, incredibly tight, but not overly restrictive. They're made with surprisingly effective narrative work and well-considered aesthetics. I'm really taken by a lot of creative decisions that I didn't expect to care about. Nioh 1 is pain. Nioh 2 is not as pain. Life is pain, when you think about it.
