Grammy-nominated engineer Frank “El Médico” Rodriguez discusses his beginnings, collaborations with Diplo and Daddy Yankee and reveals some of his key mixing and engineering philosophies.

Emerging in the early 2010s from Miami, Dominican-born Frank “El Médico” Rodriguez quickly made a name for himself in the world of reggaeton, global bass and rap. Studying, and eventually teaching, at SAE, Rodriguez earned a reputation as a reliable technician before moving into engineering. Taking inspiration from the bass-heavy sounds of the city he grew up in as well as the traditional music and early hip-hop he heard as a child, Rodriguez takes a simple approach to bringing music to life. He’s been nominated for three Grammys and has worked with the likes of Diplo, Daddy Yankee and Locos Por Juana, among many.
