The Mische Technique, meaning simply “mixed,” is a beloved painting technique of visionary painters. The version of the technique I teach, the Tricolor Mische Technique, utilizes a three color (red, yellow and blue) based underpainting to create its signature opalescent glow. That’s where we jump in today with this video, the final white egg tempera highlight layer before I begin to apply all of the local color glazes.
