Storm & Spring played catch me if you can flights all over the habitat. They even played air footsies. They are beginning to fly longer and a bit farther out but still staying close. We were all awestruck how well these two 13 week old juvenile eagles are navigating the skies and nailing their landings.
Getting to the nest seems to be a breeze for them now. However, when dad delivered a fish to the family tree, the kids were confused. Dad waited a bit before breaking into the fish which sent the kids into a squeeing frenzy all over again. Juvenile closest to the nest finally had enough and flew to dad and got fed. Meanwhile, the other kid, who was below dad could not muster it up to fly up for the feeding. Once the kid who had its first feeding on a branch was full, hungry eyes flew next to the nest on the babysitting branch. Dad then delivered the rest of the fish, with tail and head (you can see the eye of the fish in the pic posted) to the nest. After reviewing my video footage, I noticed that dad departed with the fish in his beak, then did a beak to talon transfer. I am hoping to put a highlight video together later.
The fog was incredibly thick this morning. When the kids began flying, I took so many pics that had such great potential to share with you! They were flipping upside down with legs extended in playful maneuvers. They were having so much fun, and so were we as we watched. I did share a few pixs after severe tweaking and only wished the fog and dark skies was not in the way. The flights and aerial maneuvers with each other were astonishing. I hope you enjoy the photos. ~
